Rev. Deanna M. Young, Senior Pastor

I’d like to introduce myself to you.  I am Rev. Deanna M. Young, an ordained Elder in the Texas Annual Conference.  I have been married to Scott for over 42 years and we have 3 adult children and 8 grandchildren:  Scott who lives in Dallas; Cheryl and her husband Jason living in The Woodlands with their 6 children—Christian, Parker, Avery, Liam, Madeline and Greyson; and Victoria  living in Magnolia with her 2 children—Eliza and Olivia.

I have an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in Biology) from Sam Houston State and my Master of Divinity from Perkins, Southern Methodist University. I am a second career pastor and my first career was as a Fitness Professional having owned my own business as well as serving as Fitness Director for the YMCA for many years. God prepared me for ministry through my first career by helping people take care of their physical bodies.  Now I help them take care of themselves spiritually.  One of my favorite Scriptures is Philippians 4.13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  I have learned firsthand that God enables me to “know things I couldn’t possibly know, do things I couldn’t possibly do, and be more than I could possibly be but for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.”

I enjoy preaching, teaching, writing, leading retreats and helping God’s people understand and live into what it means to be “followers of Jesus Christ.” Some of my hobbies include (besides being with my family) painting, gardening, reading, and traveling with my husband.  I served at Christ Church United Methodist as a pastor for over 6 years and was a member before that for 8 years.  I have also served on various committees for the Texas Annual Conference and as well as retreat speaker for churches inside and outside of Texas.

Daniel Rivera, Pastor of Hispanic Ministries and Ruth Vega

We were born and raised in Christian families in the island of Puerto Rico. As children and teenagers, we learned by personal experience to serve God with joy and dedication.

We were involved in preaching the Gospel through various ministries by singing and doing pantomime. Our vision and responsibility felt for the proclamation of the Gospel led us to participate in missionary work in Puerto Rico, Venezuela and The Dominican Republic.

Our marriage in 2005 gave us a new perspective to continue the search for more effective ways to proclaim Jesus Christ now as a married couple. We moved to the city of Houston in 2007 and as leaders at the local church we have served in different roles including Youth and Worship pastors. We have had education in music, counseling and theology.

We, as a Christian couple have embraced the calling of the Lord to heal the pain and suffering of the many souls that need to find His love. This passion guides us to preach the message of salvation and restoration through the grace of God and by living a worship life style.
