God has given you unique abilities, talents, and gifts. These talents are what makes you who you are and sets you apart from other people. We’re all a part of the body of Christ, and each part matters. Each person and each gift is necessary in God’s church.

These are a few of our ministries and where you may find a home in serving God and one another with your unique talents.

Prayer and Visitation Team

As a church, we are all responsible for the care of the whole congregation. This is a crucial ministry in the life of the church.  Research has proven that one pastor cannot possibly provide for the prayer and visitation needs of a congregation—no matter what it’s size.  That’s why it is necessary to have members take responsibility for this as well.  We want to make sure that everyone knows that even when they are not here, we love them, miss them, pray for them and that they are still a part of who we are.  Nobody wants to be forgotten. God-honoring worship is something for which we strive. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments, some are vocalists and others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Fairbanks United Methodist Church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. Our choir practice is currently not meeting for rehearsals and fellowship. No try-out is required to participate in the choir.
Hospitality Team
This team ensures that every person is warmly welcomed when they attend worship on Sunday mornings.  These team members make sure the Welcome Center is ready to receive guests and greets new members when they join Fairbanks United Methodist Church.  If you desire to meet new people and share your joy at Fairbanks UMC, join our team.  Contact Roxie Walker at to indicate your desire to be a part of this team.
Loving Dean Team
This team reaches out to students and teachers at Dean Middle School, as our adopted school. They help out through catered luncheons, donating school supplies and other outreach activities. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Roxie Walker at

Ushers & Greeters

The usher team at Fairbanks United Methodist Church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Fairbanks United Methodist Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. We maintain an active Facebook feed and web site for additional church communication. If you would like to learn and volunteer to be our “tech engineer” on Sunday mornings, please contact
