Rev. Deanna M. Young, Senior Pastor

Hi!

I’d like to introduce myself to you.  I am Rev. Deanna M. Young, an ordained Elder in the Texas Annual Conference.  I have been married to Scott for over 41 years and we have 3 adult children and 10 grandchildren:  Scott who lives in Dallas; Cheryl and her husband Jason living in The Woodlands with their 6 children—Christian, Parker, Avery, Liam, Madeline and Greyson; and Victoria and her husband Erik living in Katy with their 4 children—Erik, Xotchie, Eliza and Olivia.

I have an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in Biology) from Sam Houston State and my Master of Divinity from Perkins, Southern Methodist University. I am a second career pastor and my first career was as a Fitness Professional having owned my own business as well as serving as Fitness Director for the YMCA for many years. God prepared me for ministry through my first career by helping people take care of their physical bodies.  Now I help them take care of themselves spiritually.  One of my favorite Scriptures is Philippians 4.13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  I have learned firsthand that God enables me to “know things I couldn’t possibly know, do things I couldn’t possibly do, and be more than I could possibly be but for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.”

I enjoy preaching, teaching, writing, leading retreats and helping God’s people understand and live into what it means to be “followers of Jesus Christ.” Some of my hobbies include (besides being with my family) painting, gardening, reading, and traveling with my husband.  I served at Christ Church United Methodist as a pastor for over 6 years and was a member before that for 8 years.  I have also served on various committees for the Texas Annual Conference and as well as retreat speaker for churches inside and outside of Texas.

Blessings,

Rev. Deanna

We are grateful to know and serve God from a very early age. We are Cubans, born in the city of
Camaguey. We have had the opportunity to work as pastors for 8 years in Cuba and we both have a degree in Theology.  We have been married for 12 years and it has been a blessing to share life together.
We are passionate about teaching, preaching, leadership training and the Wesleyan doctrine through one’s educational process. It is indescribable what God does through Sunday Schools and how an education can guide and establish principles in future adults. We come to Texas because we know that God has something special for this time and place. We pray to be protagonists of what God will do. God bless you so much!
